Notre Histoire
Since 2005, we’ve been making a difference
Established in 2020 in the Hauts Plateaux of Minembwe, South Kivu (DRC), the New Hope Reconciliation Center (NHRC) was born in response to a serious security and humanitarian crisis. Ravaged by intercommunal conflicts, mass displacement, and extreme violence, the region was plunged into chaos, often with the indifference and even complicity of some security forces.
Faced with this distress, two natives of the region, Alexis Ruhumuriza and Joseph Harera, both pastors and peacemakers, decided to take action. They founded the NHRC with the mission of reconciling communities, restoring social cohesion, and reviving hope for a peaceful future. The organization’s very name, New Hope, embodies this vision.

The NHRC has adopted an inclusive approach to conflict transformation through dialogue, focusing on collaboration between formerly hostile tribes. Supported by partners such as Congo Peace, the NHRC is now seen as a beacon of hope where all seemed lost.
